We are looking for someone with extensive SEO knowledge and experience to join our team as Head of SEO.

The right candidate will be proactive, strategic, passionate about delivering results for clients, and driven to keep themselves and their wider team at the forefront of digital marketing.

This role is perfect for someone who wants to maintain hands-on client focus, while also leading a team and playing a role in the future of the agency. Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential, and an ability to translate SEO-geekery into plain English is always helpful!

The role requires someone who loves to engage in continuous learning to keep their technical skills and SEO strategies up to date.

 

Responsibilities

  • Keeping the agency up to date with changes in the industry and new challenges
  • Working with colleagues to ensure the team’s approach is innovative and impactful in a changing landscape
  • Proactive involvement in pitching for new opportunities, including developing strategies and attending sales pitches
  • Developing SEO strategies for clients in a broad range of sectors
  • Ensuring SEO approach is cohesive with wider digital marketing strategies across the agency for our clients
  • Implementing SEO, including technical optimisation, off-page SEO and content optimisation
  • Communicating proactively with clients about all things relating to SEO
  • Delegating tasks to colleagues and external partners, briefing thoroughly, aligning on strategy and quality assuring outputs
  • Working with studio manager to ensure resourcing challenges are solved for team members
  • Reporting on results, communicating with colleagues and clients about next steps and identifying new opportunities for clients
  • Be a go-to expert on things SEO, from tricky client challenges to algorithm updates
  • Updating and improving our processes and standards, and encouraging colleagues to improve them as well
  • Trialling new software and innovative methodologies and sharing results with colleagues
  • Representing Fountain in ways that lead to new opportunities: thought leadership, speaking at events, posting regularly online
  • Coaching and supporting colleagues, contributing to feedback for appraisals

Required Skills & Experience

  • Leadership skills and an understanding of how to motivate others
  • 5+ years’ experience in SEO
  • Proven experience as an SEO specialist within an agency
  • Strong understanding of technical SEO, how to identify and communicate clearly on how to fix the issues to boost organic performance
  • Confident with a range of tools including GA4, SemRush, Screaming Frog, Ahrefs, GSC, Sitebulb and others
  • Strong experience in off-page SEO and linkbuilding and content creation
  • A good understanding of Google Tag Manager and setting up accurate tracking for your clients
  • Experience with content management systems, HTML, Cass and JavaScript would be beneficial
  • Able to demonstrate significant uplifts to organic traffic and revenue for clients
  • Strong organisational, communication and commercial skills
  • A strong understanding of Fountain’s other services, Paid Media, Measurement and Conversion Rate Optimisation

This role can be remote, hybrid-remote, or fully office-based, depending on your preferences. If remote, please note that we do require it to be UK based, and willingness to occasionally travel to meet clients and colleagues is appreciated.

The interview process will involve first and second stage interviews, as well as an informal meet-and-greet with key team members.
